Letter : Georgetown, to Thomas Ellicott, Baltimore, 1819 Dec. 10.

Concerned with Key's participation in the plans of the American Colonization Society for establishing free Blacks in a land of their own in Africa. He writes of chartering a ship which will take a colony to Sherbro Island. This was the Society's first major project before colonization schemes came to be seen as a way to remove Blacks from America and evade the issue of slavery.
